What is Geordie Jackpot?
Geordie Jackpot is a new weekly lottery brought to you by Newcastle NE1. When you buy a ticket for £1 you will be entered into a draw to win cash prizes. By playing Geordie Jackpot you’ll be helping to support new initiatives for the city centre and local communities, as well as providing support to our nominated charity Cash for Kids.
More information about how your support will help can be found here.
How do I play?
Simply visit the Geordie Jackpot website at www.geordiejackpot.co.uk and click on 'Buy Tickets' then follow the instructions. You can pay for tickets by Direct Debit, credit or debit card.
How much do tickets cost?
Each ticket costs £1 per week. You can buy more than one ticket for each draw. 50p from every £1 ticket you buy will go to support new initiatives for the city centre and local communities, as well as providing support to our nominated charity Cash for Kids (click here for more information). The remainder is spent on administration and the prize fund.
What information will I need to sign up?
Signing up is easy. We just need your name, email address, and postal address. We also need your date of birth to validate you are over 16.
What prizes can be won?
Match all six numbers in the correct order and you will win £25,000! Unlike other Lotteries, if multiple tickets win the jackpot in the same week, winners will ALL get £25,000!
Match the first or last 5 numbers and you’ll win £2,500.
Match the first or last 4 numbers and you’ll win £250.
Match the first or last 3 numbers and you’ll win £25.
Match the first or last 2 numbers and you’ll win £5.
Are there rollovers?
No, the Geordie Jackpot does not have a rollover. Every single time someone matches 6 numbers in the right order they will win £25,000 guaranteed – no matter how many people match the numbers in the right order.
What are the odds of winning a prize?
The odds of winning the jackpot are one in a million. The chances of winning the guaranteed prizes vary according to the number of tickets bought and entered in the lottery each week.
* is a match, is not. So is 6 matches and is no matches
How does the draw work?
The winning number is chosen randomly by a third party. Any ticket matching this number (all 6 numbers in the correct order) will win £25,000.
Why do I need to sign up for at least 4 weeks?
The Geordie Jackpot is designed to maximize proceeds for projects and good causes – in order to minimize running costs direct debits or credit card payments are limited to a minimum of once every 4 weeks.
When was the first draw?
The first draw was held on Sat 7 October 2017 and there has been a draw every Saturday thereafter.
How do winners find out that they've won?
Every week, all winners will be advised by e-mail. The winning number will also be published on our website each week following the draw.
How will I receive my winnings?
Your winnings will be paid directly into your nominated bank account or you can choose to donate your winnings back to Newcastle NE1 Ltd.
How do I pay?
You can either set up a monthly recurring payment plan via Direct Debit or payment card, or pay for a block of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months of weekly tickets on a non-recurring basis.
There is no commitment to stay in the lottery and players can choose to leave at anytime.
Unfortunately we can’t accept payments for a single week as payment processing costs would impact the amounts we could provide to prizes and the lottery fund.
Why is the amount I pay £4.34 for a month on direct debit?
When you sign up by direct debit, you will pay 12 monthly payments of £4.34 per line – this is calculated as 52 weeks x £1 / 12 months = £52/12 = £4.34
Who deals with any questions I may have?
We do. We have a dedicated support number (01916 03 06 03) that deals directly with any queries you may have.
We also have a dedicated email address [email protected]
Can we play as a syndicate?
You can play as a syndicate. We provide more information on playing safely as a syndicate here: Syndicates
Is this run by Newcastle city council?
No. The Geordie Jackpot is licensed by Newcastle City Council but has been created by Newcastle NE1 Limited, the Business Improvement District company for Newcastle upon Tyne. NE1 are the team who have brought you initiatives like the Quayside Seaside, Newcastle Motor Show, Screen on the Green, Newcastle City Marina and city centre pocket parks such as the Sir Bobby Robson Memorial Garden, St Nicholas Square and the Chinese Garden.
Why should I play this lottery over others?
50% of every ticket purchase will go towards local projects and good causes in and around Newcastle. That is far higher than the contribution made by other lotteries (comparisons are 28% of proceeds from the National Lottery for example).
The money raised by the Geordie Jackpot will only support local project in Newcastle and surrounding areas – not other areas of the country.
The Geordie Jackpot provides a great chance of winning – the chances of winning a £25,000 prize is 1 in a million (compared to 1 in 45 million for the National Lottery). Odds of winning the smaller cash prizes are much higher
What will my money be spent on?
50% of all ticket sales will generate money to be spent on projects in Newcastle.
Of this generated money, 40% will go towards new projects and events in the city centre, and 10% will be donated to our nominated local charity – Metro Radio’s Cash for Kids. Our subscribers will kept informed and consulted periodically on these projects.
How do I know the draw is fair?
The draw process is based upon the results of the Australian National Lottery Super66 game, as published on the Lottery West website (www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au).
Any guaranteed prize draw process is a raffle, whereby the selection of winning tickets is based upon the selection of a single ticket at random from all the eligible tickets for that draw. Each ticket is unique and has an equal chance of winning, irrespective of the game numbers chosen.
The winning ticket will be selected at random using the online resource http://www.random.org/ who are independently verified for their random number generation using atmospheric noise.
